Job Description

The Opportunity.

The Public Programming Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist in the coordination and growth of TFI’s events and presence in our community.

 

In This Role You Will:
Assist Engagement Site Manager in all engagement related programs including but not limited to: daily tours, farmer’s markets, cooking classes, homesteading workshops, farm dinners, one-off cooking classes, children’s programming, festivals, and more
Programs include registration, set-up, break-down, promotion, correspondence with teachers, managing staff assistance
Creation of branded content such as promotional materials, as well as contributing to TFI’s social channels (Facebook and Instagram)
Assistance in managing and working shifts in our visitor center and farm stand including use of our POS sale system to sell registrations, memberships, meat, produce and other TFI branded merchandise
Being a FARM Institute/Trustees ambassador and creating awareness of our mission to our community
Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
 
Qualifications:

A love of food and farming!
Serv-safe certified preferred
Social media experience required
Can-do attitude with strong attention to detail
High level of organization and professional attitude
Must be organized and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Experience in managing schedules and staffing a plus
 

Other:                                        

Valid driver’s license required for driving TTOR vehicles.
Background check required
Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required; access to a car is necessary.
 

Working Conditions: 

Variable outdoor weather conditions.  Ability to lift 40 pounds required.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a seasonal, non-exempt, hourly paid position, with an optimal start date of May 21st. This position is based in Edgartown. Please submit a resume and cover letter.

About The FARM Institute

The FARM Institute is a 162¬-acre teaching farm on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, providing year-round, farm-based educational programs for families. Programs focus on farming, sustainability, nutrition, and land stewardship. The Farm Institute is building a new teaching kitchen with an estimated completion date of June 1st. As our inaugural summer, we are planning a robust schedule with multiple programs daily, Monday-
Saturday.
