Program Coordinator

The GroundTruth Project, Inc.

Job Description

The GroundTruth Project, home to Report for America, is seeking a Program Coordinator to join our team at our headquarters at WGBH, the flagship PBS station in Boston.
We’re looking for someone who is drawn to our mission to train the next generation of journalists in the U.S. and abroad, strengthening the role that a free press plays in societies around the world. Over the last five years, GroundTruth has supported emerging journalists to produce award-winning, in-depth journalism on some of the world’s biggest stories including climate change, global migration and the effects of war on women and girls. We distribute our work with high-quality partners including FRONTLINE, The Atlantic, TIME, PRX, and USA Today.

The Program Coordinator makes these extraordinary experiences possible for our carefully selected journalists, working closely with counterparts across the organization to ensure an excellent experience for each fellow.

  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding efforts for each fellowship cycle, including drafting online application forms and calls for applications, in cooperation with editors.
  • Coordinate the marketing of fellowship opportunities, including posting opportunities to job search engines and attending career fairs and industry-specific events to promote fellowships with the goal of attracting a talented and diverse fellowship applicant base.
  • Support Fellowship Program Operations
  • Work with editors to develop and manage programmatic budgets, support travel through third-party provider and manage overall operations in liaison with editors and staff accountants. Monitor ongoing project expenses, reconcile discrepancies, and provide budget updates to senior staff, working closely with GroundTruth Finance and Human Resources.
  • Ensure that fellows have reporting equipment needed, e.g., SAT phone, sim cards, cameras and audio recorders, coordinating with editorial team to purchase and lend as needed.
  • Match mentorship throughout fellowship, and facilitate meaningful cross-cohort interaction. Conduct mid-fellowship and final evaluations with fellows, in coordination with project editors.
