President & Chief Executive Officer

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts

Job Description

About Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts

The mission of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) is to ensure every person in the state has access to sexual and reproductive health care and education no matter who they are, where they live, or who they love. Our work is informed by research, powered by advocacy, and conducted with compassion and respect.

Sexual and reproductive health is essential to every person’s overall health, well-being, and happiness. At PPLM, we envision a state where equitable access to sexual and reproductive health care and education is the norm, and where every person can decide what’s right for them and their families. PPLM fights for a world where no systemic barriers stand between Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (or BIPOC), LGBTQ+ people, and people with disabilities—and their right to access a full range of sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion. We relentlessly pursue racial justice and health equity in all aspects of our work, backed by the power of our staff, supporters, community partners, and patients.

With a current operating budget of $32 million, PPLM is the state’s largest sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care provider, serving more than 30,000 patients annually across four health centers and through telehealth services. PPLM is a national thought leader in SRH care, advocacy, research, and education, being one of six affiliates that conducts research internally and having designed an internationally distributed, research-based, and federally approved LGBTQ+-inclusive sex education curriculum.

Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts (PPAF), is the advocacy and political arm of PPLM. It operates as a separate 501c4, with an operating budget of $1 million, that works to protect and increase access to reproductive health care and position Massachusetts to be a national leader for reproductive health, rights, and freedom. With its own Board of Directors, PPAF advocates for political candidates, supports bills, catalyzes partnerships, and activates members of the public to ensure sexual and reproductive health care, including safe and legal abortion, remains accessible and protected for all in Massachusetts.

Care. No matter what:

PPLM has been a leader in promoting sexual health for more than 90 years.  We believe that all people deserve the information and expert services to make informed, personal decisions that affect their health, their lives and their futures.  We are the state’s leading provider of sexual and reproductive health services. We educate families and empower youth to make responsible choices that lead to healthier lives.  We advocate for policies that improve sexual health.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion:

PPLM believes sexual health is essential to every person’s overall health, well-being and happiness. We recognize that geographical and systemic barriers entrenched in discrimination and stigma prevent people in Massachusetts from having equitable opportunity to choose their own path and access to sexual and reproductive health care. In order to address health equity in communities across Massachusetts in an authentic way, we must start with ourselves. We are taking focused steps to make progress in our own organization. We have embarked on a diversity, equity and inclusion journey that will lead us toward becoming an organization that better reflects our patients and embodies cultural humility. We are wholeheartedly committed to this work.
