The Opportunity
 
The BASE is seeking an outstanding President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will build on the impactful history of The BASE as they enter their next chapter. The President and CEO will serve as a proven visionary and motivational leader for the BASE. The successful executive will be a strategist, fundraiser, external champion, brand ambassador, and organizational leader. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will be an experienced nonprofit leader who will be able to represent The BASE and the Greater Roxbury and Boston community. In addition, the President and CEO will bring a varied and successful fundraising track record to support the delivery of impactful programming within a tight-kinit sports/coach culture with the goal of opening doors for urban youth.
 
The President and CEO must be a hands-on leader, strategic and analytic thinker, and problem solver who responds to challenges effectively with sound judgment, empathy, and compassion. The President will lead a staff of 15 employees, and 5 direct reports.
 
The President and CEO understands the importance of a robust partnership with the Board and will ensure best board practices and accountability to the Board. They will possess an authentic and genuine ability to convene and inspire individuals, communities, and partner organizations around The BASE’s vision. The President and CEO will be a strong advocate for the students, Board, and the staff.
 
Candidate Profile
 
The ideal candidate for this role will be a collaborative and communicative leader with high integrity. The successful candidate will understand how to assemble a wide range of constituents while leading through inspiration, motivation, and social innovation coupled with exceptional listening skills.

Inspirational Leader with a Passion for Urban Youth and the Power of Sports
The President and CEO will be the public face of The BASE, responsible for sharing its mission and vision with the Greater Boston community to increase greater visibility.
 
A track record in youth development is crucial for the President and CEO. The BASE serves more than 1,500 annually through their programs. Over $45 million in Scholarships have been awarded to BASE Student-Athletes since 2013.
 
The BASE performs their work through Sports and Athletic Training, College Readiness and STEM Programs, Career Pathways, as well as Health and Wellness programs. Partners include the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins Foundation, Mine Baseball, Massport, The Museum of Fine Arts, Putnam Investments, and Eastern Bank, and many more. The successful President and CEO will maintain these as well as many other partnerships and build new ones through relationship-building and community engagement.
 
Social Entrepreneur with Fundraising Track Record
The President and CEO will build multi-year donor base and partnerships in the Greater Boston community. They will be an energetic fundraiser who will fully embrace every aspect of the role. The President and CEO will bring a strong approach to revenue generation and an understanding of nonprofit finance and various revenue streams, including grants and philanthropic support among others.
 
Strategic Orientation and Critical Thinking
The President and CEO will be a strategic, tactical, and entrepreneurial leader able to develop and articulate a vision for The BASE’s next chapter. This leader will develop and promote strategic priorities needed to advance the work of a nonprofit organization – from funding to mission delivery. They will bring experience leading high performing teams and guiding team members’ growth and development. The President and CEO will possess the ability to motivate staff at various stages of their careers with a diverse set of skills and provide a productive work environment and professional growth opportunities that result in team cohesion and camaraderie. They will be an experienced manager who engenders trust in the staff through a collaborative management style, helps them achieve their potential, and holds them accountable to clearly defined expectations and goals.
 
Operational Excellence
The President and CEO is an executive with strong staff, operational, and financial management experience. They will have a proven track record in strategic financial oversight and a comprehensive record of overseeing various functions of an organization. They will have proven experience in budgeting, strategic forecasting, and planning, as well as in overseeing financial, accounting, complian and risk management of a complex organization. Currently, the President and CEO will oversee a budget of about $ 3 million.
 
Internal and External Relationship Manager
With excellent interpersonal skills, the President and CEO will build and maintain positive and productive relationships through transparent communication with internal and external audiences. An engaging storyteller and writer, the President and CEO understands the importance of communicating the compelling mission of The BASE with potential partners and advance the organization’s mission. The President and CEO will be confident and comfortable building partnerships and crafting a captivating message of support to advance the impact of The BASE.
 
Compensation and Benefits
 
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
