Job Description

The Castle Square Tenants Organization (CSTO) is a 501c3 non-profit that serves the needs of the residents of Castle Square Apartments, and the surrounding community.  The mission of CSTO is to preserve Castle Square Apartments as affordable housing and provide comprehensive programs and direct services that enable residents to improve their lives, and support a vibrant, healthy community.

Programming takes place in the Castle Square Community Center, a state of the art, LEED Platinum green facility that houses CSTO’s Licensed After-School program, workforce development, technology, computer classes and fitness gym.

Position: Multi-Media Arts Coordinator

Reports to: Teen Program and Youth Development Manager

Employment Type: Full time, Non-exempt

Schedule: 37.5 hr/week, occasional nights and weekends

Summary: The Multi-Media Arts Coordinator facilitates the multi-media production and media literacy programs, Media Makers and Film Curators.  The coordinator oversees and organizes day to day teen program activities for both school year and summer programming.  This position reports to the Teen Program and Youth Development Manager and works closely with the Manager on specific aspects of the program including evaluation and assessment.  The Coordinator will be youth oriented and interested in incorporating social justice themes and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and implement curriculum for designated programs, such as Film Curators and Media Makers
  • Responsible for administrative activities related to classroom instruction such as taking attendance, collecting completed forms, communicating with students, staff and parents
  • Assist in curriculum, alongside the Teen Program Manager, for and lead multi-media workshops focused in Graphic Design, Video/Filmmaking, Photography and more through a social justice lens
  • Understand goals, systems and tools for tracking outcomes and measurements related to teen program
  • Administer evaluation tools, collect and input program data into designated system
  • Conduct individual check-ins with youth in the programs, utilizing reports from tracking outcomes measurement to support youth in their workforce development
  • Assist students with developing individual skills development plans
  • Gather and use information for improvements to program design
  • Assist the implementation of a participant recruitment strategy, including outreach to partners, coordinating open houses, attending youth job fair events
  • Maintain strong working relationships with community partners that are involved with the Teen Program
  • Work on special projects as assigned by Teen Program Manager such as alumni outreach and tracking, SAT prep etc.
  • Collaborate with other program staff on CSTO program and organization-wide events as needed
  • Provide information as requested by development staff for grants and other funding opportunities and reports
  • Supervise and attend field trips, open houses, and other events

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of professional/youth work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in podcast production, video, graphic design and other media arts
  • Energetic and enthusiastic about working with city youth
  • Demonstrated experience with collaborative planning and curriculum development
  • Demonstrated experience with youth of diverse backgrounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to education, arts, and social justice
  • Bilingual English/Chinese (preferred not required)
