Job Description

Casa Myrna is Greater Boston’s foremost provider of solutions to end domestic and dating violence.  The agency operates three residential programs in Boston for survivors and children made homeless by domestic violence and commercial sexual exploitation, a comprehensive range of advocacy and supportive services, and SafeLink, Massachusetts’ statewide 24/7 toll-free domestic violence hotline. Casa Myrna believes that every relationship should be safe and healthy and works to end domestic and dating violence through education, awareness and prevention.
 
The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for the management of individual donor relationships, with an emphasis on stewarding and upgrading donors currently giving in the $1,000-$15,000 range, as well as identifying and cultivating donors and volunteers identified as having major gift capacity. The position will also play a key role in supporting the strategic direction and management of Casa Myrna’s first ever capital campaign, expected to launch in 2023. Under the direction of the Director of Development and Communications, this role will play a key part in the overall strategy to expand the pool of donors and create a pipeline for major, planned and campaign gifts, while working closely with and supporting the CEO in major gift strategy.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
 
Major Gift Management
·         Manage a portfolio of 100-150 top-level individual donors and prospects (capable of making five and six-figure gifts), assuming primary responsibility for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
·         Develop and monitor annual targets for donor and prospect calls, visits, solicitations, and revenue.
·         Increase individual giving in the $1,000 – $15,000 range.
·         Establish fundraising goals and objectives for individual giving program.
·         Make timely, personalized contact with new donors and newly identified prospects.
·         Develop strategies and materials to inform and engage current and prospective major donors.
·         Oversee the creation and execution of giving societies with the goal to further engage donors and provide meaningful connections with Casa Myrna’s mission and values.
·         Assist with the identification of major gift prospects for current and future Casa Myrna projects.
·         Work with Director of Development and Communications and CEO to develop a plan for the individual giving program within the context of a capital campaign.
·         Create and manage Planned Giving strategy and organizational marketing efforts.
·         Maintain active prospect management system in Salesforce database.
 
 
 
Campaign Management
·         Work with Director of Development and Communications and CEO to map out implementation of feasibility study recommendations; collaborate with development advisory group, board members, and campaign leadership, as needed.
·         Ensure key fundraising activities, processes and deadlines are being met to reach campaign goals.
·         Oversee and support capital campaign committees.
·         Work closely with Development Associate to identify, research and track potential donors.
·         Manage the pipeline and solicitation process for prospective capital campaign donors; oversee stewardship of leadership donors.
 
Additional responsibilities

  • Actively participate in team and agency meetings. 
  • Work as a team player with other programs/departments.
  • Develop own professional development plan and attend trainings, meetings, and conferences within Casa Myrna and in the community.
  • Support Development and Communications team with planning and execution of major events within the organization.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor and agency.
 
Qualifications and Requirements 

·         Committed to Casa Myrna’s mission of ending domestic and dating violence and promoting social justice and social change.
·         Five years full-time experience in major giving, individual donor fundraising or relevant field. 
·         Skilled in face-to-face solicitation and comfortable with all levels of donor outreach.
·         Successful implementation of proven fundraising strategies
·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and interact effectively with donors, administrators/leaders, and Board members.
·         Excellent computer skills; experience with Salesforce or comparable constituent relationship management software.
·         Highly organized. Flexible, self-directed, dependable, and personable.
·         Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
·         High standard for accuracy and attention to detail.
·         Exceptional strategic thinking and initiative.
·         Occasional evening and weekend work required.
·         Ability to travel throughout Boston required; driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred.
·         Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends as needed.
·         Strong preference for candidates who identify as a member of a marginalized community as Casa Myrna works to be an inclusive and equitable organization.
·         Fluency in a language other than English strongly preferred. Preference for Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, or Haitian Creole.
 
 
Salary:                  $55,000-$65,000 based on experience

Location:             Boston (Dorchester) 
Hours:                  full-time (4 days and 35 hours/week)
