Newton Public Schools is actively interviewing for a Director of Community Education

The Director of Community Education is responsible for organizing, implementing, and supervising the Newton Community Education Program, which produces a program of approximately 1,500 classes, courses and special events each year that responds to community needs and interests.  These programs serve the lifetime learning needs and interests of children, adults, and senior citizens in the Newton and surrounding communities.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree in Education or Business is highly desired.
- 5 years of related experience including experience in strategic and organizational planning, supervision, program creation and evaluation, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must be familiar with classes and courses available to children, adults, and senior citizens.
- Knowledge of curriculum and assessments as it relates to continuing education industry standards.
- Knowledge of online web registration systems, social media platforms, small business accounting and processes for procuring equipment and materials.
- Has familiarity with using collective bargaining agreements and employment best practices.
