Job Description

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (“GSEMA”) has an opening for the part-time position of Customer Support Specialist. This position reports to the Director of Conversion and Customer Support.

This position is part-time (15 hours per week) with the ability to work from home. May require occasional travel to a GSEMA office/property. All necessary technology will be provided. This position is not eligible for benefits.

The Customer Support Specialist serves as the first responder to members’ inquiries received either by phone or by email. Customer Support Specialists are part of a collaborative team that works to empower girls and support them as they become the leaders of tomorrow. They serve in the critical role of supporting volunteers and caregivers as they seek to grow girls of Courage, Confidence, and Character. 

The Customer Support Specialist supports customers by providing information about membership, training, girl programs, the product program, camp, and other Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts initiatives. They practice the highest standards of customer service. They build goodwill for Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and promote the Girl Scout experience. Customer Support Specialists work to ensure that Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity and seeking to support a myriad of Girl Scouting opportunities for girls in all communities throughout Eastern Massachusetts. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer questions from customers by phone or email either based on their knowledge of the Girl Scout program or by connecting the customer to the correct internal department.
  • Support new membership registration and renewal.
  • Support new leaders by answering questions related to their membership, criminal background screening, and training.
  • Support Council Girl Programs by helping members to register for upcoming activities.
  • Support the Product Program team by helping volunteers to register for and answering questions about both the Fall Product and Cookie programs.
  • Support the Outdoor Program team by helping volunteers to register for and answering questions about Outdoor Program activities including training, troop camping, outdoor skills activities, and Girl Scout Camp.
  • Interface with other departments to provide feedback received from customers.
  • Work with other departments to improve processes in order to maximize customer service.
  • Maintain accuracy of customer records in Salesforce.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience in a membership or volunteer organization.
  • New or recent graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office software; experience using Salesforce or other database software preferred.
  • Strong phone-based communication skills.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Capacity to, independently and as part of a team, plan, organize and prioritize work, while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively identify, analyze and solve practical problems and successfully manage a variety of variables and personalities; ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Bilingual skill is desirable.
  • Girl Scout membership experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a customer service environment is a plus.
  • Must be able to work 15 hours a week between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm.
 
Work Environment: This position is entirely remote/work from home.

Physical Demands: Will involve prolonged periods of sitting or working on a computer.

Travel Requirements: Work is entirely remote/work from home but may require occasional travel to a GSEMA office/property.
