Controller

The Two Ten Footwear Foundation was founded in 1939 in Boston, and is America's only industry-led charitable foundation in the United States, serving the needs of an estimated 1 million footwear workers. Two Ten is seeking a highly motivated, hands on team player to oversee our daily financial operations The Controller will be responsible for supporting and advising the management team on issues related to accounting and finance, budgeting and reporting, endowment management, information technology, contracts administration, office operations, new business analysis and staff supervision. The Controller must have exceptional accounting, management and interpersonal skills and possess multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced environment that provides high-support to staff and fully engages with corporate donors, individual contributors, vendors and professional associations throughout the United States. Responsibilities: Clearly and enthusiastically convey information and ideas in a manner that engages and persuades stakeholders; Provide positive financial leadership to all staff in partnership with the part-time CFO and President. Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution; assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and long term strategy; Oversee financial and accounting operations of Two Ten including general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, bank reconciliations, gift recording, grant management, accounting systems and databases used; Prepare and present financial analysis and reports to management Assist independent auditor in performing the annual audit and ensure compliance to key regulatory and government requirements; Oversee investments and asset management; Prepare and provide reports for management and in preparation for Board meetings; Serve as financial resource for strategy development and counsel on short and long term strategic financial decisions; Oversee cash management (forecasting and managing cash flow requirements) and debt management; Assist with budgeting, including with the preparation of the annual budget for the entire organization for approval by the Finance Committee and Board of Directors, analyzing the financial feasibility of current and new programs, and preparing analyses of budget variances for President and CFO review; Follow and improve internal control procedures, monitor compliance, and devise policies, procedures and documentation to provide guidelines for accounting/ finance/administrative staff; Assist the organization's IT strategy and ensure all IT functions are operating efficiently and effectively (including hardware, software, telephone systems, backup and emergency plans) with the assistance of an IT consultant; Work with HR Consultant to evaluate financial aspects of benefits program. Qualifications Minimum of seven - ten years of financial nonprofit experience or related business expertise Proven experience in an accounting management, finance and operations position, including financial reporting and budgeting, ideally with previous oversight of information technology; Experience working in a decentralized organization rooted in a high-support, high-engagement business model BA in Finance or Accounting. Advanced finance degree preferred (CPA, MBA). Conversant with audit, compliance, budget and resource development areas; understanding non-profits, non-profit budget models (fundraising and government contracts experience would be optimal); Experience providing excellent customer service to a wide range of constituents Excellent communication and management skills Ability to educate program directors regarding their program's finances and to encourage accountability for financial performance; Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proven success in designing-and improving systems of accountability which encourage high levels of collaboration; Demonstrated sensitivity and ability to establish respect, credibility, and trust at all levels including staff, Board, partners and donors; A high level of personal and professional integrity with exceptional interpersonal skills; Proven ability to supervise staff Strong verbal and written communication skills, including a willingness to share information and the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels; Prior experience with Raisers Edge and Microsoft Dynamics software(s) preferred The Position Two Ten offers competitive compensation and a robust benefit package, indoor parking and a warm, supportive office environment.
