Community Engagement Manager

The College Diabetes Network

On Your Own but Not Alone

Job Description

Company Description

The College Diabetes Network (CDN) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is singularly focused on providing young adults with T1D the peer connections they value, and expert resources they need, to successfully manage the challenging transition to independence at college and beyond.

Founded in 2009, CDN works for the day when all young adults with diabetes are motivated and equipped to live a healthy life, so they can pursue their dreams without compromise.

Job Description

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic community evangelist who can help expand CDN’s audience and take our young adult community to the next level. The Community Engagement Manager is a highly visible role with an emphasis on cultivating, engaging and deepening relationships with our student members, partner organizations and young adult community.

The young adult voice matters, and the expectation is that you can speak to it, with it, and for it -- fostering an inclusive and productive dialog across diverse stakeholders.

You will learn the ins and outs of our mission and programs, and then we need you to jump right in there and engage with people. Your role is to own our community engagement to broadcast our impact, programs and progress, reinforcing CDN as the go-to resource for young adults with diabetes. Your first task is to build a plan to deepen affinity within our college student Chapter Network as we emerge from a year like no other.

As our Community Engagement Manager, you will:

  • Manage our many channels - Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, newsletter, emails, and more.
  • Create our community engagement strategy and implement campaigns and measurement tactics to track ROI.
  • Respond to questions and comments across key platforms with the goal of increasing active conversations and keeping a pulse on the greater diabetes community.
  • Work with the VP of Mission and the CDN Team to proactively push new content (blog posts, videos, peer events, research, etc.) to the community on a regular basis driving awareness and conversation, and turning current community members into active CDN ambassadors.
  • Develop a successful ambassador program to tap positive voices to help evangelize our mission and drive access to CDN resources.
  • Continually measure results of campaigns and quickly iterate on strategy and tactics to optimize the growth of our community.

Qualifications

  • You have demonstrated experience successfully building and managing content strategy and a robust community experience.
  • You’re an action-oriented self-starter and can manage multiple projects at once. But you also know that even when the stakes are high, you need to prioritize quality over quantity.
  • You have deep familiarity with managing social media channels and the tools/platforms required to do so effectively and at scale.
  • You are tech savvy, proficient with CRMs and related engagement tools, and understand data is critical. Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • You write high quality and engaging copy, and know that design matters.
  • You're a fit for our scrappy, collaborative and human-first culture.

Nice to Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of diabetes from the young adult patient perspective, and Gen Z.
  • Have cultivated and know how to manage and motivate volunteers, including a team of KOLs and Influencers.
  • Experience speaking live on social media and at community events.
