The MA Department of Public Health is seeking an a highly motivated, driven communications professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Media Relations. The Assistant Director is a point of contact on a 24/7 basis for press and media requests for DPH. A critical component of this position is fielding media inquiries, coordinating public records requests from the media, supporting the Commissioner and other senior leaders in message development and media interviews, and serving as spokesperson for the agency during public health emergencies. The Assistant Director provides assistance and guidance to program staff involved in disseminating agency information to the media and managing public health messaging for print and electronic media. Our ideal candidate must have experience working with journalists, be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, delivering clear and succinct messaging when responding to a variety of constituents, and ultimately possess a passion for being at the forefront of driving change and the ability to provide accurate information.
