Job Description

THE ROLE IN A SENTENCE

Reporting to senior leadership, the Advocacy Director, MA will build a statewide advocacy strategy and coalition from the ground up, uniting and lifting the voice of Latino children and families across the Commonwealth in pursuit of better educational outcomes.

 

ROLE OVERVIEW

Massachusetts Advocacy Strategy and Execution (70%)

  • Alongside the state Executive Director and the CEO, build on the organization's early work to lead and execute a state-wide advocacy strategy grounded in priorities identified by our Latino community
  • Launch and manage a Massachusetts Latino Education Coalition with other Latino-led organizations
  • Serve as a key leader externally related to education policy issues and liaise between our senior leadership and elected/ appointed officials, legislative aides, and community leaders
  • Design and execute advocacy-related events
  • Research and report on MA education policy news and developments

National Advocacy Operations (10%)

  • Support the C-Suite in national advocacy strategy by providing thought partnership and execution support

General Management and Special Projects (20%)

  • Manage and track relationship data in Salesforce
  • Maintain project plans and effectively manage teammates to outcomes
  • Help build a positive organizational culture and participate in team meetings and retreats

 

OUR PERSON

Required:

  • Based in Boston or Springfield, MA
  • Bachelor's Degree 7+ years' experience in education policy/advocacy; 10-15 years of professional experience
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enjoys variety in their work
  • Cultural competence in working with the Latino community
  • Committed to our core values and mission

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in policy or related field
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
