There is no doubt the transformative effect the nonprofit sector has on our businesses and our communities.

Some fascinating statistics about the nonprofit sector in the United States:

  • Almost 1.5 million tax-exempt nonprofit organizations in the U.S.;
  • Of those, over 817K have budgets of less than $100K in total revenue;
  • $24 billion was donated to U.S. charitable causes in 2012;
  • The Nonprofit Finance Fund found that ; 80% of emergency services and “lifeline” organizations experienced an increased demand for their services last year and 56% cannot meet demand.

The nonprofit sector provides vital services that residents are unable to receive anywhere else in the state, and they fill the gaps and serve the most disadvantaged members of society.

Social media has provided the sector with direct, fast communication channels to raise awareness about causes, news and events. Social networks have revolutionized the way that humans communicate. They provide a cost-effective way to connect with supporters, engage them around a topic and encourage them to spread the word.

You can help use social media to spread the word about the importance of the sector and an important upcoming MNN event!
