Fall 2017 Intern


The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN) is the voice of the nonprofit sector in Massachusetts and understands that strong nonprofits build strong communities. MNN is the only statewide organization dedicated to supporting the nonprofit sector through advocacy, public awareness, and capacity building. MNN includes more than 750 member organizations, representing every part of Massachusetts—from the Berkshires to the Cape.

MNN is seeking an intern to support our work to recruit, retain, and engage members across the state. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the nonprofit sector in Massachusetts, develop skills, and experience working in a small, fast-paced, and friendly organization. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule.


  • 89 South Street, Suite 603, Boston, MA 02111 (one block from South Station)

Reports To:

  • Operations Manager


  • Assist the Director of Membership and Programs with planning and executing events, including the MNN Annual Conference
  • Help develop and maintain the organization’s member database
  • Support member recruitment and retention efforts
  • Research membership and programming trends and opportunities
  • Research topics of importance to MNN and the nonprofit sector for opinion pieces, talking points, and other communications
  • Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager with outreach to members, nonprofit and business leaders, and the media
  • Perform related responsibilities and tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student or recent college graduate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google G Suite
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar database
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to “get the job done”
